Focus Product Design is the Silicon Valleys leader in High Quality, Low Cost, Quick Turn Product Design and Manufacturing Services. We are seeking a high performance and motivated Lead Mechanical Engineer with a solid track record of exceeding expectations. You will be responsible for managing multiple diverse projects and a multidisciplinary team of domestic and international engineers. Your main focus will be mechanical with deep involvement in hardware, software, prototypes and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a BSME and 10+ years of design and engineering project experience. Experience in a consulting company a significant plus. Responsibilities :
• Provide leadership for the design and development of products spanning various industries
• Responsible for practical mechanical design, product, packaging, mechanics, physics, tooling
• Strong SolidWorks knowledge required to review all design & implement new design as needed
• Evaluate customer needs and new technologies in order to conceptualize innovative designs
• Support sales to manage customer expectations
• Drive projects to completion within identified schedule and budget constraints
• Conduct design verification and validation activities
• Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
• Provides directions and feedback to subordinates on design and manufacturing techniques
• Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve product performance, reduce cost of goods, or improve manufacturing operations and develops recommendations accordingly
• Supports implementation of designs and processes to improve product cost, performance and/or reliability
• Produce quality documentation associated with new product development
• Manage the working partnerships with multiple outside resources contracted for the concept/product development, prototype/pilot fabrication, and testing of devices
• Adherence to, and implementation of, Focus procedures and policies.
• Travel occasionally Domestic and International
Qualification :
• BSME or similar discipline, MS and/or MBA a plus
• 10+ years design experience
• Minimum 3 years project management experience
• Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks, Pro-e, and Cosmos Works/Flow a Plus
• Experience in project management, verification, and validation activities
• Startup Experience preferred & works well under pressure
• Strong track record of meeting and exceeding project deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, highly organized and flexible
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
• Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and the Web.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Systems and FDA Quality System Regulations would be a plus
